Athene von Hirschberg
CEC Owner and Instructor
Athene von Hirschberg trained in South Africa where she was fortunate enough to have Mickey Louw, the South African stadium jumping champion, as her trainer for a number of years. Athene particularly enjoys working with students who want to jump, and is a USEF "r" Hunter/Eq. Judge. While her specialty is stadium jumping, she also teaches hunter/jumpers, equitation riders, eventers, and those who just want to jump for fun! She is also happy to teach students who don’t want to jump at all!
A USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist, Athene enjoys providing dressage instruction. Having worked her way up the levels from Training level to Prix St Georges, Athene understands what is needed at every stage. Whatever the discipline, Athene tailors her lessons to the individual requirements of each student, with the emphasis on safety, enjoyment, and achieving personal goals.
She specializes in problem-solving and confidence-building. An avid Trail Rider, Working Equitation instructor and competitor, and Versatility Competition enthusiast, she encourages her students to experience the world outside the arena, and teaches many of her lessons in the specially-designed Versatility arena, the Cross-Country field, or on the trails that are all part of the extensive facilities offered at CEC.
As a registered Working Equitation Instructor with WEUSA, and the CT affiliate for WEIUSA, Athene offers Versatility and Trail lessons and clinics. These are designed to help the horse and rider negotiate obstacles and challenges together! Contact Athene by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone at 860-942-3942
